I am thinking of pursuing web developing as a career & was just wondering. I’ve heard that that location is a big factor when it comes to salary of web developers.
Kindly state:
1) Country
2) Salary Monthly/Yearly
3) Years of experience.
P.s) You can choose to remain anonymous if you want to.

It’s great that you’re considering a career in web development! Location definitely plays a significant role in determining web developer salaries, along with experience, skills, and the specific role (front-end, back-end, full-stack). Here’s a broader overview based on various countries, salary ranges, and experience levels to give you clearer insight.

    1) United States

Salary: Entry-level web developers can expect to earn around $50,000 to $65,000 per year. Mid-level developers with 3-5 years of experience usually make between $70,000 and $90,000 annually. Senior developers or specialists with over 7-10 years experience and advanced framework knowledge can command salaries upwards of $100,000 to $130,000+ per year. In monthly terms, junior developers earn roughly $4,200 to $5,400, mid-level about $6,000 to $7,500, and seniors $8,000 to $11,000 or more. Salaries are typically higher in tech hubs like San Francisco, Seattle, and New York, but the cost of living in those cities is also considerably higher.

    2) United Kingdom

Based on Ahmed Hassan’s experiences: Junior developers (0-3 years) typically earn between £15,000 to £25,000 per year (~$18,600 to $31,000). With 4-6 years of experience, salaries rise to about £28,000 to £40,000 ($35,000 to $50,000). Senior developers, with 9+ years of experience, can earn upwards of £42,000+ per year (~$52,000+). Contractors and freelancers with extensive experience can charge around £400 per day (~$500/day), which can significantly increase annual income depending on workload. These salaries tend to be higher in London or other major cities.

    3) India

Entry-level web developers here usually start at ₹200,000 (~$2,400) annually. Mid-level developers (3-5 years) can make ₹500,000 to ₹900,000 ($6,000 to $11,000) per year. Senior developers with specialized skills or managerial roles can earn ₹1,200,000+ (~$15,000+) annually. Remote work and international companies have started to push these numbers upwards, but location within India and company size greatly affect pay.

    Additional insights:

    • PayScale ranges for front-end developers are roughly $43,000 to $102,000 in the US, median around $66,000, while back-end developers make a bit more on average due to their focus on server, database, and performance skills – median salaries are upwards of $75,000.
    • Full-stack developers can command salaries on the higher end of the spectrum because of their broader skill set, especially in competitive markets.
    • Framework expertise (React, Angular, Django, Ruby on Rails) and programming languages (JavaScript, Python, Java, C#) greatly influence earning potential.

In summary, location influences salary significantly, but so do experience and skill specialization. It’s important to consider cost of living alongside salary offers. Starting in locations with vibrant tech sectors can boost your growth and pay rapidly. At the same time, remote work options are increasingly leveling the playing field, offering competitive salaries outside traditional hubs.

If you keep learning and growing your skill set, web development is a rewarding career choice with good salary prospects worldwide. Best of luck on your journey!
